Welcome to Anchored: Mastering the Mindset Behind Coaching Success

Hey, everyone! Welcome to Anchored!

If you're a coach—or aspiring to be one—I’m willing to bet there’s something about your mindset or beliefs that's holding you back on your journey to success. Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve already built a thriving coaching business, you know that coaching isn’t just about mastering techniques or gaining new clients. It’s about doing the constant inner work, evolving as a person, and aligning your mind with the kind of success you’re striving for.

Let’s be honest: the best coaches are always evolving, and the foundation of that evolution starts with the mind.

Here’s the paradox about this business: coaching is all about growth, but the real key to success lies in your own personal growth more than anything else. You can have all the certifications, knowledge, and skills in the world, but if your mindset isn’t aligned with your goals, you’ll find yourself stuck.  (Just as stuck as the clients you’re trying to help, and then here we go again into a spiral of imposter syndrome and unworthiness…)

It doesn’t matter how skilled or amazing you are as a coach if you’re struggling with imposter syndrome, feeling paralyzed by fear, or not taking the leap to help others. It doesn’t matter if you have a massive following on social media but are burned out from trying to keep up with the constant demands. And it definitely doesn’t matter if you’re passionate about coaching but still coming from a place of scarcity and lack—if you can’t shift that energy into abundance and prosperity, you’ll find yourself unfulfilled, just as you were before you started.

This is why I created Anchored. I believe that your mindset is the foundation of your success as a coach. And this blog is a space where we can talk honestly about the challenges we face, the limiting beliefs we have, and the inner work required to not just grow a business, but to grow as people.

My Journey to Coaching

In the winter of 2019, I found myself at a crossroads. My children were leaving the nest, my relationship was struggling, and my teaching career had become draining. I had spent so much time caring for everyone else that I had completely lost sight of myself. I realized that I was stuck in a cycle of giving without replenishing myself, and it wasn’t sustainable.

Then, in 2020, the world came to a standstill. The global pandemic forced everyone to slow down and gave me the space I desperately needed. During that time, I reconnected with myself, focused on self-care, and allowed myself to dream. It was a pivotal moment in my life where I started to ask myself what I wanted to do—what kind of life did I really want to create for myself?

That’s when I discovered life coaching. I realized that coaching offered a forward-focused approach that deeply resonated with me. Coaching was about taking ownership of my life, stopping the cycle of dwelling on the past, and starting to dream about what could be possible in the future.

In 2021, I became certified as a coach, and in 2022, I earned my Associate Certified Coach (ACC) designation from the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Now, I’m a full-time coach, enjoying the growth of my personal coaching business while also embracing my role with the Insight Coaching Community, where I have the opportunity to train and support coaches from all over the world.

The Challenges I Faced

Like many of you, my journey hasn’t been without challenges. In the beginning, I struggled with all the things. I didn’t know how to get clients, I was afraid to tell people I was a coach, and I felt unworthy of charging for my services. I felt isolated, unsure if I was “doing it right,” and constantly overwhelmed. Technology, marketing, consistency—everything felt like an uphill battle.

The most significant challenge I faced, however, wasn’t external. It was internal. I had to face my fears, my self-doubt, and my limiting beliefs. For example, I realized that my fear of failure was keeping me from taking action. The belief that I wasn’t good enough was keeping me from putting myself out there. And the belief that I didn’t have permission to be successful in this new venture held me back from stepping into my full potential.

I also had to deal with perfectionism. I would spend hours tweaking things to be “just right,” only to feel drained and unsatisfied. I felt like I wasn’t “doing enough” or “doing it perfectly.” All of these challenges were rooted in my mindset.

Over time, I began to recognize that these obstacles weren’t roadblocks in the traditional sense—they were indicators of areas where I needed to shift my mindset. Whether it was overcoming fear, changing my beliefs around money, or tackling feelings of inadequacy, the solution was always the same: I needed to change my inner story.

The Power of Mindset

That realization was a game-changer for me. I understood that if I wanted to build a successful coaching business, I had to start with my own mindset. I had to break free from the limiting beliefs that were holding me back. And that’s when everything started to shift.

Now, I want to help you do the same. Anchored is here to help you cultivate the mindset that will allow you to thrive. Whether it’s overcoming self-doubt, shifting from scarcity thinking to abundance thinking, or finding ways to avoid burnout and stay consistent, this blog will provide insights and tools to help you on your journey.

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of growing a business—so much so that we forget to check in with ourselves and our own personal growth. But the truth is, true success as a coach isn’t just about how many clients you serve, how much money you make, or how many followers you have. True success comes from building a business that aligns with your values, creates personal fulfillment, and allows you to serve from a place of abundance.

What’s to Come

In future posts, we’ll dive into strategies to overcome the mindset blocks that hold us back. Together, we’ll build the mindset that allows you to show up as the best version of yourself so that your business can flourish in ways that feel authentic and true to you.

Whether you’re just starting out, in the thick of building your business, or reflecting on the next phase of your coaching career, Anchored is here for you. This space is for actionable insights, personal growth, and mindset mastery.

Building a Sustainable Coaching Business

So many coaches, when they first start, struggle to balance everything: building a brand, serving clients, managing the business side, staying inspired, and keeping up with personal growth. You might feel like you're juggling all these things and, at times, it feels like you're letting everything slip through your fingers.

One of the things that helped me was accepting that there is no “perfect” time to do everything. Perfectionism will keep you stuck—whether it’s waiting for the ideal moment, the right amount of knowledge, or the perfect clients. What I’ve learned through my journey is that consistent action is more important than striving for perfection.

Having a mindset that embraces imperfection, learning from failure, and staying open to new opportunities is what makes a coaching business sustainable. It’s also about being kind to yourself when things don’t go as planned. The beauty of coaching is that it’s a process, not a destination. The more you embrace your own evolution as a coach, the more you’ll show up for others in a meaningful way.
